This enchanting ballet is based on Lord Byron?s epic poem written in 1814, a romantic story of pirates, maidens, slave merchants, and pashas. The Suite is a compilation of the most beloved scenes from the full-length ballet, including: Le Jardin Animé Pas d?Esclave, Grand Pas de Trois des Odalisques Le Corsaire Pas de Deux & More The first performance of Le Corsaire as a ballet was in 1837 at the King's Theatre in London, with choreography by François Albert and music by Nicholas Bochsa. The ballet was later reworked by Joseph Mazilier, whose version premiered in 1856 with music by Adolphe Adam at the Paris Opera, achieving unexpected success. In 1858, Jules Perrot adapted the story again, adding several new dances later on choreographer Marius Petipa created several versions between 1863 and 1899.
